A New 10-Year Federal-Provincial-Territorial Framework
Ottawa and the provinces and territories agreed to a 10-year agreement on early learning and childcare — a first in Canada.
But it isn’t ambitious enough, providing only a fraction of the funds child care needs. And making child care universally available isn’t even a long-term goal.
The agreement lets parents and children down. And it ignores everything that child care advocates and experts have told the government.
What Was Said
“The federal government promised a ‘framework ensuring affordable, high-quality, fully inclusive child care to all families who need it.’ This agreement doesn’t come close.”
